im back!
back from my 5 days 4 nights OBS! its the best camp ever man!
i shall blog all about it
First day 201106
we arrive at pulau ubin around 9.30 am, assemble at the mph nd there were so many othr schs thr, like thr were 14 watches (grps) nd each have 16 ppl, so thr were a lot of ppl thr :D suprisingly i got into th same watch as bethany!! haha, nicholas tommy binhui were all thr too. *smile
thn we did ice breakers nd thn we were showd around camp two, its very old, can tell by th facilities they were like all old nd rustd. *laughs each watch has their own store room calld the store. yap, thr were ponchos 2litres water bottles, jerry cans, tents, mass tins, camping bagpacks,life vests , ground sheets, helmets, harnest (sp) etc. full camping gears.!
thn we had to transfer all our belongings into the bagpacks given to us, nd it was freaking heavy!
our 5 days supply of food were all given at one go. 2 huge boxes of food, lots of biscuits,bread nd caned food, thr were instant noodles nd even rice! we have to split the equal amount of food for everyone in the watch nd also decide how we're gonna cook our food. at first i thought thr wldn't be enough, but we left a lot.
thn we had to look at the campsite, it takes 101 steps of the stairs to get thr, nd if we left anything in the store..we'll have to go all the way down nd go back up again! 202. our first challenge was to repack our stuffs frm 15 bags to 11 bags including our food supplies nd cooking stuffs. tht was like so impossible, th bags all weigh like 30kg, i swear!
i can't carry it at all la. but i managed for like 5 minutes till we got the gathering place, our instructor (zippy!) told us tht we lookd like dragging dead bodies whn we carried our bagpacks nd told us to repack again! this time to reduce our things again. so we'll have have to share bags nd share our toiletries in order to reduce weight.
first day was all the admin work no physical still. we pitchd our tent but the weather was too bad for us to slp in it, so we get to slp in the kayak shed for the first night (lucky) it was cold tho.
Second day 211106
we startd physical stuff, like rock climbing, so we did tht in the morning, haha nd we wore our harnest everywhr we go, zul always get the g-string one, nd he seemd to like it a lot. i did the stage 2 wall nd it was really tough. i get over the red line!! the one we climbd in sec3 camp was so much easier. the only person who got to the top of the wall was zul, he's like spider man! all th way up.
after tht, we carried all our things unpitchd the tents nd packd all the things we need for 3 days in the bags including life vests, which we bring everywhr we go. thn we trackd (hiked) all the way to camp one. the journey aint long 1.5km but with our load its really dragging us dead. the forest ground was bumpy nd wet. damn difficult to walk. but we got used to the heavy loads.
got to camp two. totally exhustd but had to go kayaking straight away. so we drop our things at the campsite, nd went to kayak, theory was boring. dunearn was the only sch tht took star one thr.
so we had to like lead th others. siew's watch did kayaking at the same time. its not tht easy, like we had to keep track of the time nd the tide.lol. we only get to be in the water for like one nd a half
hours, we kayak to camp two jetty nd back. i love kayaking (:
in the evening we startd pitching our tents, in our wet attire. so all of us were dripping water, haha..we didn't manage to finish pitching before sunset, so we had to pitch in th dark. the ground was hard nd difficult to hit the pacts in, to we used the bricks we found instead.
dinner was in the cook house, new nd high cls. camp one is sooo much nicer thn camp two. its many times bigger. after eating so many bread and tasting uncook rice which is like eating pebbles on the first night, dinner in the cook house was amazing! *yum. me cel aderlin we so pathetic tht we bathe at the swimming pool tht night! damn funny!! showering with our clothes on.
thn at night we got briefting for tmr's land expidition. ohoh! whn we were about to go back i needd to go the toilet. so i went alone! nd after tht i thought my watch went back to the campsite
already..so i walkd back alone. it was pitch dark no lights at all! im like afraid of the dark, so went i reachd thr, they weren't thr! so i had to walk all the way back again. nd i found thm at the same place. they were waiting for me, cos they cant leave without every one present.

Third day 221106
land expidition! im the leader. unpitchd our tents nd went for meeting. took the map compus. we had to got to 8 checkpoints. 3 compulsory ones, and we were given the coordinates, nd we were suppose to use tht plan our routes and get to the cp. we did it! geog rocks.
whn we were ready, we set off. with everything! like food shelther, everything we need for 3 more days on our backs (x,x) cp were all over the island. nd we had to get thr by foot. so we walkd across the whole of pulau ubin. lucky us we did all the fast forward things and past 5 cps.
we climb to the highest point in pulau ubin. the view thr was fantastic. the water in the quarry was bright blue. nd singapore can be seen! thn we had to walk down again. woh.
we got to see the german girl shrine. nd pretended we didn't find the cp whn the other watch came. damn funny! haha. thn we continue tracking, nd we were out of obs land. into pulau ubin, frm thn on thr will b vehicles nd no more water sources. depending on the water we carried along.
thn it startd to rain nd it was cat 1 (category one=lightning warning) so we seekd shelther, thr we played truth or dare with zippy, nd she made hot milo for us, right on the spot, everyone squeezed togethr cozy nd warm (: we collectd rain water, for washing hands. back to basic. thn those ppl who kana the dare had to do stupid things to the male instructor of the other grp. damn funny!!
haha..reachd the campsite, it was a nice place. so we pitchd tents again, nd cookd dinner, the dinner was damn nice, campbell soup with magee nd hotdogs button mushrooms. *yummy! didn't get to bathe tht night, cos the water outside obs was all brown nd non-portable.so we powder bath (ty weijie) first time, it was a 10 min walk without light to the nearest toilet.nd we thought we wld get light thr, but no. it was still dark. so we went back.haha..
we had to do sentury duties at night, thr was shifts. mine was the first one. til 12.15am. we saw wild dogs mating! ha! nd thr were many cute puppies.nd thn we chatd the whole night, till i cannot tahan nd went to slp. ha. the best day ever!
Forth day 231106
sea expidition. unpitchd tents nd packd everything. got into row boats nd startd a whole day of sea journey, route? around pulau ubin! one round frm camp one back to camp two. it was FUN! 5 hours in sea. i was the nevigator th one who chg direction on the row boat. the scorching sun was boiling us. nd we applied tonnes of sunblock! haha..im very scare of getting sun burns.! so i put a lot on my tighs nd face. but! my ears got burnt! and my lips. funny places
i love it whn big waves come nd the whole boat will go up nd down up nd down . make us puke haha.but fun! yesyes. my boat was the fastest! with the least no. of ppl peddling. haha. strong. we were so for ahead. nd had to wait for other ppl time to time.
we reachd 4 hours early. CLAP! haha. nd for tht our bags are sent to camp two for us. we cleaned the boats nd went to wash our life vests, nd i finally pooped! ha. yes, it was raining again, nd we had to wait for the rain to stop before heading back to camp two.
track 1.5km back to camp two this time its much easier without the bags, but the slopes were so steep nd ground was wet! haha..it was great getting back thr. 101 again.
thn we pitchd our tents again, get to dry our things whn the sun scorched, and packd. showerd without lights, cos electricity only comes at 7pm. thn we rest awhile, nd had to do store check. cookd at night, feasted! cos it'll be the last night. sob, so we cooked all the food we're left with.
it was a spicy dinner. but nice. beth's a good cook. nd im a good can-opener. lol. had tonnes of fun tht night!. slept in a wet tent.
Last day 231106
morning did area cleaning, nd packd store check, traded things with other watches. haha.funny! all hariz idea. thn we did our last activity, the bell thing, commiment! yes. reach our goals nd never give up. got our certs nd photos. nd it startd raining, we were all sad tht we're leaving. sobsob. we exchg no. nd emails, nd we'll be friends forever! haha. got to singapore. FINALLY!
went to plaza sing to eat kfc nd drink pepsi! craves. hafiz came to meet me! yeah! i miss him!
